Melissa completed her LLB through the University of London in 2016, followed by her Legal Practice Certificate through Manchester Metropolitan University in 2018.

Following her call to the Bar in 2019, Melissa undertook her period of training in Chambers, then moved into the procurement team at Royal Bank of Canada working on high-volume commercial contracting reviews.
